Aye-aye, That's Yer Lot

With van Gaal mutterings of "I'm satisfied with my players, I may not need to sign any other players." and Woodward doing a PR disappearing act with his 'unlimited funds and no price is too  high' it would appear that the Glazers have reigned them both in.

There are no mentions of Vidal, Vermaelen or Hummels in today's newspapers or TV sites. No mention of getting rid of the dead wood.

Could this be a transfer market ploy though? Doubt it.

All van Gaal's team has faced, so far, are 'has beens'/part timers and basically reserve teams, just back off holidays, from Milan and Roma.

Can't foresee any improvement in the new season against improved Premiership teams.

Transfer Season Summer 2014

With all season tickets sold out, is Manchester United's transfer war chest suddenly empty?

Reports that United are no longer interested in their previous targets are suddenly appearing.

Reports that United targets are suddenly re-signing for their current clubs.

Hardly any clearing out of deadwood.

Mediocre second tier players being praised and rated.

Ed Woodward disappearing off stage, from the USA, as if he had been gagged and kidnapped.

Like a house of cards has the transfer target aims collapsed?

I Have To Go Home For Business Reasons

(Continuing the fairy tale of The Theatre of Dreams.)

So says Puck Elf the CEO. (For new readers Puck Elf was a cartoon character in the Manchester Evening News during the forties and fifties.) If he has business to conduct at OT, why did he go on tour in the first place?

Cast your mind back to Australia last year. Didn't he duck out of the pre-season tour then? Again on IMPORTANT (transfer) business and look how that turned out. Has Puck again been banished by the evil Emperor Glazer (s) the Insatiable?

No it's not the pantomime season, readers, just seems like  it. I think Puck disappears down the bottom of the garden, hiding from the big bad managers, no doubt re-appearing on the 2nd. September. He will then reveal, as if by magic, massive sponsorship plans to the delight of the Elders of tribe Glazer.

How long will the sponsors give the Glazers money when the once mighty Red Devils can only field deadwood and dross?

van Gaal's first mistakes?

Louis van Gaal wants to take four weeks to evaluate his players before deciding whether to delve into the transfer market?

How will he evaluate two of his most promising youngsters, not on tour. Strange.

After four weeks evaluating he will only have a fortnight to scout and buy. Strange.

Is this the same scenario as last year with different 'actors'? Strange.

I don't think I'll hold my breath, just waiting for the end of transfer window clichés to pour out of Old Trafford!

Louis van Gaal our new manager/trainer/coach/whatever.

Well today he, Louis van Gaal, held his first "news" conference.

Not really impressed - according to BBC it was basically LvG's life story and based on that I will score him:

Content - 3, Style - 6. Can do better, as my old headmaster said sixty years ago.

I'll be surprised if he sorts out the deadwood any time soon, probably circa 2016. Again, I'll be surprised if he manages to sign any of HIS choices in the near future.

Could be wrong, but I was spot on about Moyes, except that he was fired after Christmas!

Benefits for EU Migrant Workers

The situation the United Kingdom finds itself in the payment of benefits to migrant EU workers is ridiculous.

The EU should sort out its rules and regulations on paying of benefits. I think there are two possibilities to solve the situation.

1) The migrants home country should be responsible for the administration and payment of all, yes I mean all, benefits to the migrant workers and their dependents.

This would be similar to the administration and payment of state pensions to British citizens living in say Spain or France.

Alternatively,

2) The host country should pay benefits equal to the benefits paid by the migrant workers home country. This would remove the purpose of the migrant worker seeking out the country paying the highest benefits.

Conclusions.
This would not deny the right of the EU migrant to work anywhere in the EU.
It would not deny the EU migrant the right to be unemployed anywhere in the EU but would make the migrant's home country responsible for his care and benefits thus relieving the UK of its unfair responsibilities and 'benefit roaming'.

Midfielders, Now and Then

Just watched a replay of the Stoke Utd v. Manchester Utd match.

While watching Tom Cleverley's performance I remembered watching Paddy Crerand's performances in the sixties. What a difference!

Neither Cleverley or Crerand are defensive midfield players but what a difference.

Cleverly - Fast paced, mainly playing suicide square balls and reverse passes to defenders, slows down the momentum of United's football, definitely a disciple of the Crab (Ray Wilkins).

Crerand - Slow paced, mainly playing attacking forward passes and through balls, a prince of midfielders maintaining the momentum of United's attacks.

Though both saw a lot of the ball, Cleverly passes to any team mate without thought, Crerand thought out passes and attacks to United's benefit.

My conclusion is that Cleverly, like Wilkins, is not really suitable for United's style of play.

Man United step up scouting in JANUARY.....

Beggars belief!

How far Moyes' and his staff are out of 'sync' in team building. While other teams are out negotiating and buying players, Moyes and co are just stepping up their scouting in Europe. They should have been scouting from the close of the last transfer window. Moyes can't use the excuse that they had to evaluate the current players, as a manager in the Premiership for eleven years he should have realised the situation at Old Trafford.

We have wingers injured or way out of form and we have a player who was reported to be the outstanding performer on the summer tour. Moyes wants to move him on. What's going on here? So far Moyes explanations don't hold water.

So the scouting for a midfielder continues. Why doesn't he recall Powell from Wigan who will probably be as good as any Moyes is able buy from Europe.

I forget. Moyes wants to build his own team so out with Ferguson's signings and let's bring United down to Everton's level of the last eleven years.

I wonder if Moyes, struggling in his debut year, has noticed Pellegrini's statement of how he is trying to win four trophies in his debut year as manager?

Holiday,Holiday!

Another Dave (Moysiah) answered Italy's paparazzi that he was in Cagliari on holiday.

What holidaying with Jimmy Lumsden? What happened to Mrs Moyes? Doesn't she like a holiday?

Strange but very interesting!

New signings?

Will United sign the Dortmund crock Ilkay Gundogan?

History says no. Ever since Uwe Rossler's granddad and his mates bombed Old Trafford to rubble no German player has ever made a first team appearance for United. (That includes Ron-Robert Zeigler.)

So "preparing to pay over the odds" for a football crock doesn't have a ring of truth to me, no matter the quality of the player.

The other comments emanating from Old Trafford make me laugh.
"we are monitoring " such and such.
"we are preparing a bid"
"we are considering"
"we have arrangements for the summer transfer window"

Doesn't anybody, at Old Trafford, think that all these puerile comments should have been made before the 1st. of January? WE ARE NOW 11 DAYS INTO THE TRANSFER WINDOW, HOW ABOUT SOME ACTION!!

Time for Another Dave (played by David Moyes) to look in a mirror and see what we see. He talks the talk but he can't walk the walk!

As for major signings in the winter window, I don't think this is in the Glazer armoury. They want to buy players when they are trying to sell season tickets in the summer, investing to accumulate. Winter signings earn nothing for the Glazers, quite the opposite.

The New Coming......

When will people stop laughing at the Glazers "appointment" - Moyesiah?

Why is Moyesiah trying to reinvent the wheel?

Deal or No Deal

The negative/defeatist attitude emanating from David Moyes, Old Trafford has to cease.

Let's be positive, no more excuses, let's get Woodward out from the parapets, he has hidden long enough!

If United don't have the cash, let the supporters know then we know where we stand.

Taxi for Moyes!

What's left to say. The man has no idea. He wants to win the Cup but leaves his better players on the bench.

He can't train players, he can't buy players or the right players, the players have no belief or confidence.

Get the taxi.

Deja-vu.

At seventy five, a supporter since 1948, today's performance brings back my memories of McGuiness, O'Farrell and Sexton.

Their sad performances resulted in them being kicked out.

Moyes and his team are no different they should go NOW. We do not need years of hurt again.

Glazers must act now before we return to the seventies and eighties scenario.

Premier League a la "Another Dave"

Well it had to happen, didn't it!

Overheard leaving Old Trafford, after the West Ham match, "It's just like watching Everton!"

Everton supporters leaving the Swansea match, "It's just like watching ManU!"

So Another Dave has managed to get Everton in the top four at last - by taking over United - and managing to get United in his comfort zone - mid-table, at last!!

Glazers, oh Glazers, the misery!! Banish the gobby Scot before we are relegated!

Moyes' "Transitional Period"

So another sparkling piece of PR from Another Dave, United are undergoing a transition from SAF's Champions to Moyes' Everton Look-a-Likes.

This should take a full season then the Look-a-Likes can fight for promotion to the Premiership.

We don't want to be Everton Ver. 2, we want to be MANCHESTER UNITED pre-Moyes!!!!!!!!

Another Dave, 07 Dec 2013

After another highly disappointing week, I have just seen a picture of Another Dave walking off the pitch at the Theatre of Dreams.

He definitely now has the "1,000 yard stare".

Bye-bye, Another Dave.

Dilemas of Another Dave

Hard fought draws and struggling three pointers. A good job Rooney didn't move to another club in the summer. Paying Rooney a quarter of a million a week has so far kept Another Dave off the Black Monday list and heading for the Job Centre tomorrow.

Don't wonder though because what did he achieve at Everton? Eleven years of draught...... Not exactly the credentials for a United manager. Deja vu the 1970s after Sir Matt retired. Being Scottish doesn't automatically ensure you will be a good manager vis. Owen Coyle, Craig Brown et al.

Dilemma No. 1 - Wilfried Zaha. Cost £15M, played 78 minutes = £192,307 per minute. That's a better pay rate than Rooney.

So come on, Another Dave, the truth now, nothing but the truth!! He's got to be better than Valencia, Nani or Young at the moment.

Dilemma No.2 - Everton tonight.

So you will have no feelings on your return to Everton? Bollux or what keeps your ears apart.

...... and so Manchester United struggle

Two things have to happen at Old Trafford, down Busby and  Ferguson's Ways.

One, the Glazer family and their cronies need to return the money they have trousered and return the club to a debt free situation. No more will Ferguson's skills cover their greed.

Two, though "Another Dave" (Moyes) may have been Fergie's choice, he has been unable to team up with "Puck Elf"  (Woodward), they may have other skills but they certainly don't have the skill to manage United on the field of play and the recruitment of the required class players. The backroom staff have two beginners (Neville and Giggs), basically "guffers/tea boys" and two of Everton's "experienced staff" who have probably never even won a game of "keep uppy". So let's start organising some P45s for the Moyes Mates.

Will we be in the relegation battle this year or will we be relegated? I think it will be a close thing and "Another Dave" may have to return to Uncle Kenwright!

Rooney's Latest

I use to be a great fan of Wayne Rooney, that is up to his latest carrying on at the end of last season.

Having read Rooney's latest outburst, blaming his loss of form, fitness etc. on SAF playing him out of position, because of RVP's signing, it is about time Rooney either put up or shut up.

The club is greater than the player!

Rooney is not the best striker in the UK, he's not even the best striker in Manchester, sorry to say.
