Are radio stations losing their status?
Are radio stations grasping for any foothold in todays rapidly changing society?

Is van Gaal the answer?
I have followed van Gaal's press conferences.
How else can the man in the street gain knowledge from the Dutch man? (Is Dutch man the correct term?)
All I can hear is philosophy/ balance. What does this mean? To me it sounds like bull shit.
I have supported Manchester United since 1948, what a shame about our blitzed stadium but what a great final against Blackpool!
Busby/Murphy, Ferguson/ and his various assistants, wonderous years, there is a god!
Then Moyes and now van Gaal. Who is guiding the money men of United now?
It is about time so please Glazers appoint a "United" manager so we can watch "United" football again.
Piss off all these so called theorists and lovers of Edam & Gouda!

Sentencing of Oscar Pistorius
What a performance !
Looks to me that to save face for the prosecution he will receive a jail sentence but to save face for the defence it will be suspended.
Puzzles me how he can share his bedroom with his girl friend, keep a firearm in his bedroom, then blast away her life when she visits his en-suite and then says he thought it was an intruder.
Twilight Zone to me.

Too tired, too tired, poor darling!
So Nefertiti (Rahim Sterling, have you seen his hair) is too tired to play for his COUNTRY? Poor darling!
It's only October and Liverpool have only played eight league matches and a couple of European matches. Has he played all of these matches? Poor darling!
When I was young I use to play that many matches during half term.
What kind of torture and child neglect are Liverpool putting their young players through? Poor darlings!

Well done Man United
Falcao, Blind, di Maria and Rojo added to payroll. What can I say about Puck Elf (Ed Woodward) and the Glazer Gang? Appear to have got their proverbial finger out. How many years of Glazer hurt and negligence?
All we need are work permits (Falcao and Rojo). When are we going to see some debuts? Only di Maria has played so far.
Pity we haven't re-signed Pogba though, what a cock up that was!

How many on the 'sick'? How much did Man United pay for them?
So who is lining up against Sunderland tomorrow?
Definitely not any signings by Moyes or van Gaal. (Not heard about Mata but there is time yet.)
Fellaini - ankle
Herrera - ankle
Shaw - hamstring
Rojo (Shaw's replacement?) - no work permit (who forgot that?)
If it's true Hernandez and Welbeck have been told to look for new jobs let's hope van Persie can manage to stay fit!
SNAFU!

Avalanche
So the avalanche begins.
From a tiny yodel to a thundering mountain call there will be a massive demand for Puck Elf's (Ed Woodward) head!
From big mouthing the start to Manchester United's season to the recent trough of silence and inactivity in the transfer market; from disappearing, nay not once but twice, on the tour to the club's main sponsors and share market "to deal with business" (sic).
Early, LVG told Puck Elf (Ed Woodward) you cannot build a team on a sand foundation, no excuse for Puck Elf there then.
How long will the Glazers support this empty shell of a "yes" man?

Team Responsibility
Now is the time for Ed Woodward to show his true colours.
Stop being a sponsor monitor and become a team builder, Woodward.
Make the honourable choice, either choose to fight for the team or fall on your sword!

Sunday Overtime
After falling to relegation tipped Swansea City yesterday, what does that say about Manchester United?
I can't see the point in blaming yesterday's team for the defeat, they are what they are - generally not up to standard/form. LVG knows this but he has no money yet or in sight. So he is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
So it looks like the blame has to be placed with Vice-Chairman, Puck Elf (aka Ed Woodward). Already he has boasted that there are funds available to LVG and that United are willing to break the world transfer if necessary. Oh yeah!
All United fans hope Puck Elf (aka Woodward) is grabbing a bit of Sunday overtime in the transfer market. Give LVG a chance you tight wad!
United sacked Moyes, no improvement, so it is definitely time to consider Puck Elf's (aka Ed Woodward) position with a view to giving him a P45 and an interview down the Job Centre.
Manchester United - well last time this happened O'Farrell was sacked before Christmas and United Relegated to Division Two (Old days).
Conclusion - send Puck Elf (aka Ed Woodward) back to Fairyland.

Old Trafford Attendance
Doesn't seem much of a change since last year. LVG has replaced Moyes but the running of the club is still very poor. There is minimal
improvement in the playing staff but behind the scenes it is SNAFU.
I wouldn't trust Puck Elf (Ed Woodward) to run down the corner shop for anything. When are Puck and the Glazers going to learn? Eventually all the sponsors will pack their tents and funds, slipping away into the night when they realise their products will not be associated with a successful team? How much are Puck and the Glazers going to strip from the Manchester United account?
We have brave words from Puck Elf, talking the talk but not walking the walk. How many times will he appear at Old Trafford this season? I think most of his attendances will be at away games or maybe he will decide to work from Manchester United's office in London.
Am I writing about a leech or parasite? Time will tell!

Today's Big Story
No not in the transfer market, LVG has given up with Woodward and the Glazers.
It is the banning at Old Trafford of iPads and tablets.
Yep, even LVG's backroom staff will have to revert to crayons and drawing books!
This is in case any Glazer money grabbing activity is infringed.
We need Robin Hood to save us!

Bye-bye Man U Targets
"Bye-bye Man U, Hello Barca!" Vermaelen.
"I've made Hummels team captain, forget him Man U!" announces Jurgen Klopp.
"I think I will prefer the Barca climate rather than the Manchester rain and LVG doesn't chose the national team now!" Daley Blind & Juan Cuadrado.
"I prefer life in Paris & the European Championship!" Angel di Maria.
Seems Juventus are hiding Arturo Vidal, in the Far East, so Man U medics cannot check out his dodgy knees. Deja vu? Ah, the Hargreaves scam?
So what fairy tales will we be fed, by Woodward and the Glazers in January 2015?
Will we have more sponsors than players? Will season tickets be available on eBay next year?

Aye-aye, That's Yer Lot
With van Gaal mutterings of "I'm satisfied with my players, I may not need to sign any other players." and Woodward doing a PR disappearing act with his 'unlimited funds and no price is too high' it would appear that the Glazers have reigned them both in.
There are no mentions of Vidal, Vermaelen or Hummels in today's newspapers or TV sites. No mention of getting rid of the dead wood.
Could this be a transfer market ploy though? Doubt it.
All van Gaal's team has faced, so far, are 'has beens'/part timers and basically reserve teams, just back off holidays, from Milan and Roma.
Can't foresee any improvement in the new season against improved Premiership teams.

Transfer Season Summer 2014
With all season tickets sold out, is Manchester United's transfer war chest suddenly empty?
Reports that United are no longer interested in their previous targets are suddenly appearing.
Reports that United targets are suddenly re-signing for their current clubs.
Hardly any clearing out of deadwood.
Mediocre second tier players being praised and rated.
Ed Woodward disappearing off stage, from the USA, as if he had been gagged and kidnapped.
Like a house of cards has the transfer target aims collapsed?

I Have To Go Home For Business Reasons
(Continuing the fairy tale of The Theatre of Dreams.)
So says Puck Elf the CEO. (For new readers Puck Elf was a cartoon character in the Manchester Evening News during the forties and fifties.) If he has business to conduct at OT, why did he go on tour in the first place?
Cast your mind back to Australia last year. Didn't he duck out of the pre-season tour then? Again on IMPORTANT (transfer) business and look how that turned out. Has Puck again been banished by the evil Emperor Glazer (s) the Insatiable?
No it's not the pantomime season, readers, just seems like it. I think Puck disappears down the bottom of the garden, hiding from the big bad managers, no doubt re-appearing on the 2nd. September. He will then reveal, as if by magic, massive sponsorship plans to the delight of the Elders of tribe Glazer.
How long will the sponsors give the Glazers money when the once mighty Red Devils can only field deadwood and dross?

van Gaal's first mistakes?
Louis van Gaal wants to take four weeks to evaluate his players before deciding whether to delve into the transfer market?
How will he evaluate two of his most promising youngsters, not on tour. Strange.
After four weeks evaluating he will only have a fortnight to scout and buy. Strange.
Is this the same scenario as last year with different 'actors'? Strange.
I don't think I'll hold my breath, just waiting for the end of transfer window clichés to pour out of Old Trafford!

Louis van Gaal our new manager/trainer/coach/whatever.
Well today he, Louis van Gaal, held his first "news" conference.
Not really impressed - according to BBC it was basically LvG's life story and based on that I will score him:
Content - 3, Style - 6. Can do better, as my old headmaster said sixty years ago.
I'll be surprised if he sorts out the deadwood any time soon, probably circa 2016. Again, I'll be surprised if he manages to sign any of HIS choices in the near future.
Could be wrong, but I was spot on about Moyes, except that he was fired after Christmas!

Benefits for EU Migrant Workers
The situation the United Kingdom finds itself in the payment of benefits to migrant EU workers is ridiculous.
The EU should sort out its rules and regulations on paying of benefits. I think there are two possibilities to solve the situation.
1) The migrants home country should be responsible for the administration and payment of all, yes I mean all, benefits to the migrant workers and their dependents.
This would be similar to the administration and payment of state pensions to British citizens living in say Spain or France.
Alternatively,
2) The host country should pay benefits equal to the benefits paid by the migrant workers home country. This would remove the purpose of the migrant worker seeking out the country paying the highest benefits.
Conclusions.
This would not deny the right of the EU migrant to work anywhere in the EU.
It would not deny the EU migrant the right to be unemployed anywhere in the EU but would make the migrant's home country responsible for his care and benefits thus relieving the UK of its unfair responsibilities and 'benefit roaming'.

Midfielders, Now and Then
Just watched a replay of the Stoke Utd v. Manchester Utd match.
While watching Tom Cleverley's performance I remembered watching Paddy Crerand's performances in the sixties. What a difference!
Neither Cleverley or Crerand are defensive midfield players but what a difference.
Cleverly - Fast paced, mainly playing suicide square balls and reverse passes to defenders, slows down the momentum of United's football, definitely a disciple of the Crab (Ray Wilkins).
Crerand - Slow paced, mainly playing attacking forward passes and through balls, a prince of midfielders maintaining the momentum of United's attacks.
Though both saw a lot of the ball, Cleverly passes to any team mate without thought, Crerand thought out passes and attacks to United's benefit.
My conclusion is that Cleverly, like Wilkins, is not really suitable for United's style of play.
